Terms and conditions

The plain-English rules for using this free tool. Last updated October 4, 2026.

1. The service

Mouse Scroll Test (“the tool”) is a free, browser-based utility that analyses mouse scroll-wheel input and reports a health score with diagnostic information. It is provided as-is, with no account required and no fee.

2. Informational results, not advice

Scores, verdicts and reports are automated interpretations of browser input events. They are indicators — not guarantees — about the condition of your hardware. They are not professional, engineering or purchasing advice. Decisions about cleaning, repairing or replacing a device are yours to make, ideally confirmed by a second opinion (for example, testing the same mouse on another computer first).

3. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the tool is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, availability and fitness for a particular purpose. Browsers, operating systems and drivers interpret wheel input differently, so identical hardware can score differently across setups.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of this site is not liable for any loss or damage — direct or indirect — arising from use of the tool or reliance on its results, including hardware purchases, repairs or data loss. If your jurisdiction does not allow such limitations, liability is limited to the minimum extent the law requires (note: you paid nothing to use the tool).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload or reverse-engineer the site beyond normal browser use.
  • Misrepresent the tool's output as a certified or professional diagnosis.
  • Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, or circumvent any access controls.

6. Intellectual property

The site's design, text, scoring methodology and code are the property of the operator unless stated otherwise. You may link to any public page and quote brief excerpts with attribution. Systematic copying or republication of the site's content is not permitted without prior written consent.

7. Third-party content

The site loads fonts from a third-party provider (see the privacy policy). We are not responsible for the availability or policies of external sites we link to.

8. Changes

These terms may be updated as the tool evolves; the current version posted here always applies. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
